Academic of environmental sciences: perception and interest in agro-ecological sector Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Oliveira, Carmem Sara Pinheiro de; Lima, Allison Ferreira de.
Agroecology is settling as a new alternative for transformation, not just in the productive point of view, but mostly about human inclusion. In this context, comes the debate about the importance of family farming as a means of sustainable production. This research aimed to evaluate the design of university students of Environmental Sciences on family agriculture and its agro-ecological perspectives. The subjects were 104 students, distributed among the courses of Biological Sciences and Ecology Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), in which they were chosen at random and asked to answer a standard questionnaire with key questions on the proposed theme. The results show that there is some knowledge about the theme addressed, however so there...

Application of a More Advanced Procedure in Defining Morphological Types International Journal of Morphology
Jaksic,Damjan; Lilic,Ljubisa; Popovic,Stevo; Matic,Radenko; Molnar,Slavko.
It is well known that the most evident differences in humans are those related to anthropometric characteristics, and that during continuous monitoring the relation between human behavior and human abilities concerning their anthropometric characteristics was observed. The aim of this study was to detect and define the morphological types with the use of slightly different and more advanced methodologies. The sample included 149 male subjects, first-year students of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in Novi Sad, using an anthropometric measurement technique. A total of 12 anthropometric measures, defined according to the four-dimensional morphological model was used. For all variables, basic descriptive statistics were calculated while student...

Vera-Uehara,Carmina; Sánchez-Alemán,Miguel Angel; Uribe-Salas,Felipe Javier; Ramos-Castañeda,José; Olamendi-Portugal,Ma. Leónidez; Conde-Glez,Carlos Jesús.
Objectives:To determine the prevalence of HPV and the risky sexual behaviors associated to it in a sample of male college students, taking into account genotype and viral load. Methods:From 2002 to 2003, male students from the Autonomous University of Morelos State completed a questionnaire and provided self-collected genital samples to detect and quantify HPV. We performed a bivariate and a multivariate logistic regression analysis to identify correlates associated with the infection and to assess the viral load as a function of the viral infecting type. The fragments of β-globin gene and L1 of HPV, were amplified, purified and cloned, to evaluate viral load. Results:Among 253 subjects, HPV prevalence was 19.4%, and HPV16 was the most common subtype....

Psychometric properties of the Portuguese version of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory applied to college students: factor analysis and relation to the Beck Depression Inventory BJMBR
Andrade,L.; Gorenstein,C.; Vieira Filho,A.H.; Tung,T.C.; Artes,R..
The psychometric properties of the Portuguese version of the trait form of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-T) and its relation to the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were evaluated in a large Brazilian college student sample containing 845 women and 235 men. STAI-T scores tended to be higher for women, singles, those who work, and subjects under 30 years. Factor analysis of the STAI-T for total sample and by gender yielded two factors: the first representing a mood dimension and the second being related to worrying or cognitive aspects of anxiety. In order to study the relation between anxiety and depression measures, factor analysis of the combination of the 21 BDI items and the 20 STAI-T items was also carried out. The analysis resulted in two...

Relations between Different Dimensions of Self-Perception, Self-Esteem and Body Mass Index of Female Students International Journal of Morphology
Bratovcic,Vesna; Mikic,Branimir; Kostovski,Zarko; Teskeredzic,Amela; Tanovic,Izudin.
The aims of this study were to investigate the association of body mass index with different dimensions of self-perception and the level of self-esteem among female students of first and second year at the University of Tuzla. The study was conducted on a sample of 120 female students of the first and second year at the University of Tuzla. The study used the following instruments: Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (ROSF), Questionnaire PD/form A and Body Mass Index calculation. Results indicate that self-esteem and self-worth, and a sense of comfort and discomfort affect the experience of body perception unrelated to body mass index. It is also determined which variables are significant predictors of the experience of body perception and the level of...

Trends in drug use among students in Brazil: analysis of four surveys in 1987, 1989, 1993 and 1997 BJMBR
Galduróz,J.C.F.; Noto,A.R.; Nappo,S.A.; Carlini,E.A..
The consumption of psychotropic drugs among Brazilian secondary school students was examined by comparing data from four surveys using a questionnaire adapted from the WHO's Program on Research and Reporting on the Epidemiology of Drug Dependence. Students filled out the form in their classrooms without the presence of teachers. The target population consisted of 10-18-year-old students (on average, 15,000 students responded to each survey) in Brazil's ten largest state capitals: Belém, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and São Paulo. Among the legal drugs, lifetime use (use at least once during life) of tobacco was increased in seven cities (the exceptions were Brasília, Porto Alegre and Rio de...
